Powell, Powell & Powell, P.A., was founded in 1951 in Crestview, Florida.  We are a family of attorneys spanning three generations.  Our practice is devoted to aggressively representing victims of serious personal injury or wrongful death cases.  Our firm currently has six attorneys in two locations in Okaloosa County, Florida.  For more information on the individual attorneys in our firm, please click the links below.

Our senior and founding partner, Gillis E. Powell, Sr., was a lifelong resident of Northwest Florida. He grew up in Crestview and had strong ties to Walton County where he often attended court as a young child with his grandfather, Judge A. R. Campbell.  He proudly served his country in North Africa in World War II, achieving the rank of Major.  After the War, he attended the University of Florida in Gainesville and earned his law degree in 1951.  He returned to the Florida Panhandle after law school and entered private practice as an attorney in Crestview.

Gillis E. Powell, Sr., also served as an Assistant State Attorney for several years early in his career, prosecuting criminal cases in Crestview.  In 1971, he was appointed by Florida Governor Kirk to the position of Circuit Court Judge for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, which is comprised of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton Counties.  He served as a Circuit Court Judge in Okaloosa County in the Shalimar Courthouse Annex until 1977, when he decided to return to private practice with his oldest son, Gillis E. Powell, Jr., Since 1977, Judge Powell concentrated his law practice in the areas of commercial litigation, municipal and government law, corporate law, banking and finance, and administrative law. He served as the City Attorney for the City of Crestview (1962-1967) as well as the attorney for the Town of Mary Esther (1977-1995) and the Okaloosa Gas District (1977-2007). He has served as the City Attorney for the City of Niceville since 1977 until he passed away in 2011, and represented Niceville in a case that reached the United States Supreme Court (Warner Cable Communications, Inc. v. City of Niceville, Florida, 501 U.S. 1222, 111 S. Ct. 2839, 115 L.Ed.2d 1007, June 17, 1991).

Dixie Dan Powell is a lifelong resident of Northwest Florida and is a shareholder in Powell, Powell & Powell, P.A.  His roots run deep in the business and legal community.  Dixie Powell has a reputation of being a tough and fearless courtroom litigator with over 22 years of hands-on courtroom experience, trying both civil and criminal jury trials at both state and federal levels.  He has earned his reputation by trying difficult cases in courtrooms across the country.  He has handled and tried cases involving wrongful death, serious personal injury, medical negligence, premise liability, negligent security, products liability, toxic tort, insurance disputes, commercial litigation and other cases.  He strongly believes in our jury system and continues to fight and seek justice for his clients and their families.  He has handled cases against some of the world’s largest corporations and defendants and continues to hold them responsible for their actions in a court of law.  He is an advocate for consumer justice and is member of the American Association for Justice, the Okaloosa-Walton County Bar Association, the First Circuit Trial Lawyers Association for Justice, and an Eagle member of the Florida Justice Association.  He is admitted to practice in all Florida courts and in the U.S. District Court Northern District.

Dixie graduated from Crestview High School in 1974.  He received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of South Florida in 1979 where he was an Honors student.  He received his Juris Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law in 1983 and began his practice at Powell, Powell & Powell.

He is married to his lovely wife, Teresa Kelly-Powell, and they have two daughters, Dixieanna and Audrie, and son, Dixon.  He resides in Crestview, Florida with his family.  His family are members of the Woodlawn Baptist Church.

Lacey Powell Clark is the oldest daughter of Gillis E. Powell, Jr., and the granddaughter of our founding partner, Gillis E. Powell, Sr. She grew up in Crestview and graduated from Crestview High School.  She attended Florida State University in Tallahassee and graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology in 1991.  She earned her law degree (Juris Doctor) from the Florida State University College of Law, with honors, in 1994.

Ms. Clark joined the firm in 1994, and became a partner in 2007.  She is a member of the Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Okaloosa-Walton Bar Association, the First Circuit Trial Lawyers Association, and is an Eagle Sponsor/Member of the Florida Justice Association.  She is licensed to practice in Florida as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

Ms. Clark devotes her practice to motor vehicle accident litigation and insurance claims, premises liability cases, and dog and animal attack cases.  Her husband, James G. Clark is also a member of the firm.

James G. Clark is a native of Northwest Florida and grew up in Pensacola.  He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction, with honors, in 1993.  Mr. Clark worked in the construction field for eight years as a Project Manager for a construction management firm and as a Construction Manager for a development company.  He decided to pursue a career in law and earned his law degree (Juris Doctor) from the Florida State University College of Law in 2004.

Mr. Clark joined the firm in 2004.  He is a member of the Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, the Florida Justice Association, and the Okaloosa-Walton Bar Association.

Mr. Clark devotes his practice to personal injury, wrongful death, insurance litigation, and construction litigation.  His wife, Lacey Powell Clark is a partner in the firm.

Ginny Powell Stewart is the youngest daughter of Gillis E. Powell, Jr., and the granddaughter of Gillis E. Powell, Sr. She grew up in Crestview and graduated from Crestview High School in 1997.  Ginny attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in English Literature, Cum Laude, in 2001 and a Juris Doctorate in 2005.

Upon graduating from Florida State University College of Law, Ginny spent four years in Atlanta, Georgia working as a health care attorney for the Georgia State Senate.  She recently moved back home to be closer to her family, joining the firm in 2009.

Ginny is a member of the Florida Bar, the Okaloosa-Walton Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice. She is also certified in Health Policy from Georgia State University.
