Construction Law
Our firm represents developers, general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, and homeowners in various facets of construction law and litigation. We have experience with construction defect cases, construction lien disputes, and breach of construction contract claims. Attorney James G. Clark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from the University of Florida, was a state certified general contractor, and worked in the construction industry for eight years prior to pursuing his law degree.
Construction Liens
A construction lien is a procedure for someone who has furnished labor, materials, or services for a particular project to get paid. Although Florida’s lien law established the ground rules for enforcing a construction lien on real property, it continues to create confusion among industry professionals. The lien law creates a veritable minefield of potential problems for a potential lienor due to the various time-sensitive deadlines throughout the entirety of the lien enforcement process. Construction lien perfection, prosecution, and defense are a big part of our construction practice.
